I produced a short documentary on the relationship between bats and grief for BBC Radio 4’s Short Cuts – Nature Documentaries episode. This was super special to me as it features my very good friend, talking about our very good friend who passed away in 2018. Grief can be an extremely alienating process, both for those going through it and for the people around them, so I wanted to create something that could provide a language or reference point for those touched by it. I pitched it as a nature documentary and used recordings of my friend finding and recording bats on a bat detector as the bed of the programme.

Emelia Brooks made an animation out of a section of my piece, which is totally amazing and I was so touched by. You can watch it here:
I also recently found out that this piece is used in an audio class at Sciences Po in Paris and it made me feel warm inside!
