Collective Rhythms – Lead Artist

I was the Lead Artist for the 2023 Metroland Young Associates. It’s a paid alternative education programme for 18-24 year olds in Brent. This year’s programme – Collective Rhythms – focussed on the politics of sound. Read more here.

Over 4 months, I designed and led workshops on things like: oral history, recording and editing audio, personal storytelling, interviewing and the politics of archiving. We also took the young people for a field trip to Dungeoness, to get inspired by Derek Jarman’s garden and of course the sea.

I ran this programme alongside Shep Manyinka, who is a legend. Big thank you to everyone at Metrolands who asked us who set this up.

The Metroland Young Associates curated a final showcase at the end of the programme:

I love facilitating creative workshops! I’m always looking to do more – if you’re an org that’s interested please get in touch. See more examples of this kind of work I do here.
