ABOUT

I am a multi award winning freelance audio producer, sound designer and community facilitator.

Read about the current project I’m working on here.

Radio and podcasts are magical – there’s an intimacy to audio that feels unique. I like to work on projects that bring joy to people, and offer tools to open up important conversations. I’m passionate about sound design and developing new, compelling structures to platform voices and stories in sound.

I was the Senior Producer of VENT – the British Podcast Award’s Podcast of the Year 2021. I’ve produced audio for organisations like Prison Radio Association, BBC, Serpentine Galleries, Somerset House, VICE, The Empathy Museum and Resonance FM. I’m the co-founder of Boldface CIC: a multi-media production company that works with young people to produce audio, art and film.

My audio practice is rooted in representation and co-production. I’ve developed workshop series and co-productions with multiple communities, including 15-24 year olds, women involved in the Criminal Punishment System, LGBTQIA+ communities and people over 70. My audio work is studied on University courses at Sciences Po and the University of Sheffield.

If you’d like to work together, I’d love to hear from you! You can find me @JesseLRadio on Twitter or you can email me at jessjgl [at] gmail [dot] com. I’m interested in working with companies that have signed the Equality in Audio Pact, and who are actively conscious of the role they play in breaking down structural inequality.

Outside of radio, you can find me in the pub, playing bike polo and listening to a lot of Dolly Parton.
